I am working on my first book—a science fiction story with perhaps a dash of fantasy. I am an optimist at heart, and I believe in the immortal words of Samwise Gamgee: “There is some good in this world, and it’s worth fighting for.” You’ll find those themes of good and evil, light and dark, woven through my writing, but above all I hope you have as much fun reading my stories as I had writing them—and that you fall in love with the world and characters the way I have.

My road here was a winding one, from serving as a young Army helicopter mechanic in Iraq to a career in data science that began with fraud-prevention work in Washington, D.C. If you have filed taxes in the U.S., you have likely interacted with systems I helped build—for which I apologize.

So why did I decide to write? I cannot name any single reason, but the one that keeps returning is simple: I wanted to explore a world my mind kept pulling me back to in idle moments—waiting at a stoplight, standing on a train in Tokyo, lying in bed just before sleep. Once I stepped into it, I found myself writing to discover what happened next, and I can’t wait to share it with you as well.
